Location for Bennett Middle School
The New Bennett Middle School land is being sought out. The completion of the construction should be around 2010. The cost for the building is $62 million dollars. Field recommended the area of South Salisbury and Fruitland for the relocation of Bennett Middle School in October. The school district is saying this location is the best due to 30 acres or more for the school. The roads around the area will be able to handle the traffic. Water and sewer is also to believed to be good. Planning and approval will be in October 2008. Stay tuned to more details as we get it in.

Actually, it's the Middle School the RFI was issued for. Once the Middle School is built, the new Bennet High School will be built on the existing campus.
Thank you very much. I will change it.
HO--
No problem. It is easy to confuse. Basically, the situation is this: for the entire footprint of a high school (main building, athletic fields, service facilities, parking, bus ramps, etc) you need a lot more land than you did in the 60s and 70s.
Add to the fact that Wicomico County is VERY progressive in the use of geothermal heating and cooling (more land if you can get it is helpful here, too), and you end up with a larger footprint for new facilities.
So, they move Bennett Middle into a more centralized area based on demographics and school districting, giving up more room for the new High School.
It's a huge effort in choreography, and having two schools with the same name makes it damn confusing.
Very interesting Gunpowder.
Thanks for the information.
